More information

Quincan Gravel is a lightweight volcanic stone well suited to a wide range of horticultural uses, particularly where drainage, aeration and long-lasting structure are important.

Its naturally porous, vesicular texture helps create air space within growing media, supporting healthy root development and reducing the risk of waterlogging. This makes it useful as a drainage layer, soil amendment, potting mix component, or top dressing for plants that prefer free-draining conditions.

Available sizes:

  • 3-5mm: ideal for finer potting mixes, seedling mixes, bonsai, succulents, cacti and top dressing smaller pots

  • 5-10mm: ideal for larger pots, drainage layers, raised beds, orchids, natives and more open free-draining mixes

Available pack sizes: 1L, 2L, 3L, 4L and 5L.

Key horticultural uses:

  • Improves drainage in pots, planters, raised beds and garden areas where excess moisture may be an issue

  • Helps increase aeration within growing media, supporting healthier root growth

  • Can be mixed through potting media to improve structure and reduce compaction

  • Suitable as a top dressing to help reduce soil splash, protect the surface of the mix and create a clean finish around plants

  • Useful for cacti, succulents, bonsai, orchids, natives and other plants requiring a free-draining growing environment

  • Lightweight compared with many other gravels, making it easier to handle and suitable for container growing

  • Durable and long-lasting, helping maintain structure in the growing media over time

Quincan Gravel is a practical choice for gardeners, nurseries and growers looking for a durable volcanic aggregate that supports better drainage, aeration and root health.
